The UHDTV, also known as the 4K TV, is going to be your next TV. It is big and beautiful that offers four times the resolution of current-generation HDTV. The UHDTV utilizes more than eight million pixels compared to the two million or so pixels you have in today's HDTV.
But you won't find a visual difference on TVs under 50-inches. The extra pixels packed into 4K displays will have effect on bigger screens. The 4K display keeps the image crisp and beautiful, full of rich detail where existing HDTV starts looking a little jaggy and washed out in bigger sizes.
At this year's International CES in Las Vegas, all the buzz is about the UHDTV. Almost all the big TV manufacturers have announced TVs in this new 4K display format. Samsung has debuted a 85-inch and a 110-inch UHDTV. Westinghouse has debuted a 110-inch model 4K TV. LG has introduced an 84-inch UHDTV and its 55-inch 4K TV is already in production. Sony has debuted a 55-inch, a 65-inch and a 84-inch 4K TV.
However, you won’t buy a UHDTV anytime soon. A number of barriers are working with the biggest being price. Another important barrier is the fact that there is almost no 4K video available today. But don't be disappointed, problems will be solved. Technology doesn't stop in the world of TV.
