2013 Ford Mustang GT Ford has announced the winner of a contest to build the first-ever SEMA Mustang designed and built by women. The winning entry, dubbed the Mustang High Gear, was styled by Ford designer Jennifer Seely and picked through online voting over two other concepts. Seely's Mustang High Gear was inspired by jewelry, high-fashion, and architecture. Outside, the Mustang High Gear gets a subtle satin black paint job that's accented by rose-gold satin chrome wheels, mirrors, and grille trim. Inside, the Mustang High Gear features leather seats wrapped in quilted suede, and metal trim replaced with more rose-gold satin chrome.

Sponsored in part by our parent company Source Interlink Media, the Mustang High Gear will be built by women right here at our El Segundo headquarters, and then displayed at SEMA in November. The build is expected to take eight weeks, and will also include some modifications to the 420-hp 5.0-liter V-8 from the 2013 Ford Mustang GT donated by the automaker. After SEMA, the Mustang High Gear will be auctioned off on eBay to raise money for the SEMA Memorial Scholarship Fund. You can check out an interview with the Mustang High Gear's designer, Jennifer Seely, in the video below.
Ford's Mustang is no stranger to endless customizations, so it makes sense that the automaker brought an additional four third-party-customized concepts to the floor of the Specialty Equipment Market Association show in Las Vegas this week. For Ford Mustang fans who aren't skilled with a clutch pedal and stick shift but still want neck-snapping performance, DSO Eyewear sponsored this high-power black-and-white coupe. Based on the 2013 Mustang GT with a 5.0-liter V-8 and a six-speed automatic, DSO's industrious upgraders added a twin-screw Whipple supercharger and intercooler, boosting final power output to 750 horsepower. That power is sent to the rear wheels, which are (obviously) shod in giant wheels (black and white) and tires. There's a 3dCarbon body kit to give the car a more aggressive stance, an ear-injuring Rockford Fosgate audio system, and a slick black and white paintjob to complete the package (white on the body panels, black on the center of the hood and roof pillars). If you prefer to drive stick, there are still three other choices. Ringbrothers took a 2013 GT coupe and added a supercharger and big wheels, but also upgraded the suspension. To make sure the shiny silver Mustang stops as well as it goes, Ringbrothers added bigger brakes to match the huge, well-filling wheel/tire package. The engineers at Stitchcraft focused more on the Mustang's interior, adding swaths of what appears to be leather to the interior trim and seats of a 2013 Mustang V-6 convertible. Then again, Stitchcraft realized that a custom Mustang would be nothing without more power, so it added a Flowmaster exhaust system and nitrous injection, then added both a Hotchkiss coil-over suspension and a Wilwood brake package. The teams at Mothers, Autosport Dynamics, and RTR decided to go all out with their SEMA car, however, making what looks like a crazier Boss 302. The look comes from an RTR carbon-fiber body kit with an aggressive front splitter, a "track-ready" suspension (likely adjustable dampers and stiffer springs), big wheels and tires (with flared fenders to match), and unnamed engine upgrades that take the 5.0-liter V-8s power output up to 650 horsepower. On the inside, the Mustang wears Sparco seats with custom upholstery; on the outside, Mothers gave the Mustang a red paintjob with a pair of black stripes.
